I still cannot believe I re did my guest bedroom. it looked good before and I wanted to do something, but I didn’t have any money. I re decorated it for ONLY $60 dollars! Yes! you are reading it right…$60.
We had all the stuff from our old apartment and couldn’t afford to buy new bedding, decor, etc. It was a beautiful yellow decor, but our new home is very neutral and I really wanted the guest bedroom to be that way as well.
I am going to share all the details because I love this bedroom so much, that I cannot keep it to myself.
First, I started by painting and distressing some picture frames. I used white chalk paint. I really love that stuff. I use it on everything.
I also painted this clock.
And the lamp (It used to be yellow).
I added some lace for a shabby chic look.
Then I painted the end tables. These are the ones that used to be in my bedroom. They are the Whitney Cabinet from Ballard Designs.
For the bedding, I was hunting some quilts, bedspreads, duvet covers, or just about anything that I could get cheap. I went to Ikea to check the duvet and left the store disappointed because I liked two and they were about $50 each. Before I stepped out, I stopped by the “As Is” section. How lucky I am that I found two duvet covers for ONLY $10 each and $2 each sham. I bought the two sets, white and stripped grey.
I had bought the curtains a while ago, but in case you are wondering where I bought then, HERE is the link.
A lot of people have also asked about the bed frame. I bought THIS one when I lived in the apartment and it is so nice and sturdy. I fell in love with this frame since I came to the United States and I knew I had to buy it at some point.
For the bed skirt, since it is an extremely high bed, I made it myself out of a white king size sheet I didn’t use anymore.
Now for the wall art, I had some botanical prints with yellow flowers. I followed THIS tutorial from Joanna Gaine’s blog and printed new botanical art with pink flowers for only $0.90 each.
The icing on the cake was the $14 dollars pendant I found during my lunch break in a vintage store.
I gave it a few coats of Rust Oleum spray paint. The color was Iced Gray in Matte.
I also added some cute knobs to the Ikea Hemnes dresser.
And to give it some color and celebrate spring, I bought some fresh flowers.
Last but not least, here is the color of the walls. I know you guys really wanted to know that one.
What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments below!
